2009 Information Technology Conference
02/11/09
The first ever Information Technology Conference organized by Informatics Valenzuela was held last Feb. 10, 2009 at the Valenzuela Auditorium. Several
speakers from prominent companies in the IT industry were on hand to share their expertise through a series of seminars and product demonstrations.
The event was supported by the City of Government of Valenzuela through its Youth, Sports, and Livelihood Development Office and by the Department
of Education Division of City Schools Valenzuela.
The first to present was Mr. Jumar Pando of Sun Microsystems. He briefly talked about the ins and outs, as well as the requirements in getting a
career in I.T. Several lucky students also got to take home some Sun Microsystems goodies.
Next to give a presentation was Mr. Joearch Bienvenido of WorldText Systems Inc. Joearch gave a brief background of Autodesk's various product
offerings for engineering as well as graphic arts. Ms. Evelyn Abella of Microphase Corporation followed it up by giving a demonstration of the lastest version
of Autodesk's popular AutoCAD software for engineers.
Also on hand to give a talk was Mr. Benjo Ceasar Tinsay, the studio manager of Glow 3D Animation Studious. He gave a short background and history of the animation
industry in the Philippines. He also took the time to showcase a few of the oustanding works that Glow Studios has done.
The I.T. Conference was also the venue where Informatics Valenzuela showed a 4 minute trailer of the 3D Animation Film Valenzuela May Disiplina. The film
is a joint undertaking by the city gonvernment and Informatics Valenzuela with the assistance of the different high schools in the city. The film
is being developed entirely by students ranging in age from 15-20 years old. All students have undertaken Autodesk Maya 3D Animation training
at Informatics and are hard at work in developing the final piece. As a reward for the high school students who have participated, Informatics gave away
scholarship certificates which they can use to take any Informatics Diploma program.
With around 500 high school and college students attending, as well as numerous faculty members and administrators, the event was a huge success and ensures
the continuation of such events in the near future.
